New York Orthopedics Clinical Trial Recruitment Re-opens
Northern Westchester Hospital orthopedics clinical trial focuses on patients’ pain management after surgery
The Clinical Trials Program at Northern Westchester Hospital is pleased to announce an extended enrollment period for a total knee replacement pain management clinical trial recruitment.
Also known as “The PACIRA Trial,” this study seeks to evaluate the safety, efficacy and pharmacokinetics of a single injection femoral nerve block with liposome bupivacaine for post-operative pain for patients undergoing a total knee replacement.
Total knee arthroplasty, or knee replacement surgery, is one of the most common joint replacement procedures and is performed on over 600,000 people worldwide each year.
The PACIRA Trial is a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, parallel-group, placebo-controlled, dose-ranging study to evaluate the safety, efficacy and pharmacokinetics of a single injection femoral nerve block with liposome bupivacaine for post-operative pain for patients undergoing a total knee arthroplasty.
Clinical trial recruitment for the PACIRA Trial will end October 2013.
There are several eligibility criteria for the Pacira trial; including the following:
• Age 18+ undergoing a primary unilateral total knee arthroplasty under general or spinal anesthesia
• Patient must weigh more than 110 lbs
• No previous participation in liposome bupivacain studies
The Clinical Trial Program at Northern Westchester Hospital is actively recruiting patients for this clinical trial and others. For more information about the clinical trial recruitment and joining the study, please call 914-666-1366 or contact us online today.
