Dr. Ezriel (Ed) Kornel is a member of Brain and Spine Surgeons of New York and a Director of The Orthopedic and Spine Institute at Northern Westchester Hospital. He received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and received his medical degree from Rush Medical College, Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital. Dr. Kornel completed his neurosurgical residency at the George Washington University Medical Center, is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and an assistant clinical professor of neurosurgery at Cornell University. He has received additional training in Microneurosurgery and is certified in the use of the Gamma Knife, a stereotactic radio-surgical device used for the treatment of brain tumors and trigeminal neuralgia.

Dr. Ezriel Kornel Minimally Invasive Cervical Spine Surgery at NWH
Dr. Kornel has expertise in minimally invasive surgical treatment of brain tumors, as well as minimally invasive endoscopic spine surgery. He is one of the first neurosurgeons in New York to replace damaged cervical discs with artificial discs and one of the first spine surgeons in the tri-state area to perform percutaneous lumbar fusions. Dr. Ed Kornel was involved in the early development of surgical instruments used in endoscopic and minimally-invasive spine surgery and has taught these techniques to other spine surgeons. A patent is pending on instruments Dr. Ezriel Kornel invented for percutaneous spine fusion surgery. Additionally, Dr. Kornel has authored numerous scientific articles relating to neurosurgery and has authored a chapter in an online textbook regarding management of cervical spine trauma.
